Developer aims for ‘Third Ward’ feel with pocket park at BMO Tower and 770 North

Biz Times – As part of its downtown Milwaukee projects, developer Irgens Partners LLC aims to create an environment for tenants and visitors similar to one found in the nearby Historic Third Ward. To achieve that aesthetic, Irgens is planning a pocket park, which would be built in a vacant lot located east of 770 North and south of the BMO Tower.

Beyond that, other Third Ward-type amenities at this location include three new restaurants, one of which will have outdoor seating, and installation of public artwork.

Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Tom Daykin details how Mark Irgens included a firm to help recruit minority-owned contractors when he was assembling the team to develop 833 East Michigan in downtown Milwaukee. Three year’s later, Irgens is taking a similar approach with the company’s latest project – BMO Tower.

Developer unveils new plans for current BMO Harris Bank tower on Water Street

The developer behind the new BMO Harris Tower on Water Street, which will be completed in December, also has grand plans for the current BMO Harris building next door.

The building at 770 North Water Street, which was originally built to house M & I Bank, sits on historic land.

It was once home to Milwaukee’s oldest house, then later a German-American newspaper and a hotel before the bank building was erected in the 1960’s.
